About Us

Claremont School is in North Bristol, currently catering for pupils in the Primary and Secondary age range who have physical disablilities and a range of learning needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
In 2008 Ofsted deemed the school an 'Outstanding' school.
"The school is a hive of enthusiastic activity where pupils are very busy responding to challenges, concentrating very hard on the task in hand and joining in with all the social activities provided. Bright, lively faces greet visitors, and pupils willingly engage in conversations through their communication aids."

A HMI visit in 2007 deemed that 'Learning Outside the Classroom' made as outstanding contribution to the curriculum and provision at Claremont.
"The school has a fundamental belief that LOTC experiences are vital to
meet the pupils’ complex learning needs. As a consequence, you and the
staff make every effort to ensure that LOTC is at the heart of the
curriculum."

We took responsibility for a new secondary centre at Redland Green in September 2007.
There are currently 54 pupils on roll and as the development of the secondary department goes ahead this will expand to around 100.
The Primary School is situated an a Henleaze Campus in the heart of the popular residential area of Henleaze, about 3 miles from the City Centre and is close to local shops and amenities. Pupils come from across the City and the neighbouring authorities, mostly on council provided transport.

Facilities include 2 computer suites, (one for pupils and one for staff), a large multi-purpose Hall, a light and dark room. All the classrooms have interactive plasma screens and access to a range of other ICT resources, including a part time technician.
